Bedford snactch last minute equaliser

The game looked to be a cold and wet one, but as the starting whistle went, the clouds disappeared, and the sun came out as if to symbolise the end of Bury's 3 game losing streak. The game started off physical with James King being warned about his body checks . Hugh Wilson, recently returning after a few games off with injury, made an immediate impact with an excellent goal finding some back space at the top of the D. Unfortunately, Tom Campbell-Todd began to get bored of Bedford's half court press and instead of passing it around the back he accidentally passed straight to there centre midfielder and couldn't even make the recovery tackle to stop them scoring. The halftime whistle went with the score at 1-1.

Early in the second half, Bury showed positive signs with some good build up from James King who was happy to be playing in a more attacking role. Making plenty of room for himself at the top of the D he wound up for a shot, but the connection wasn't his best and the umpire had to take evasive action. After plenty of opportunities and short corners, Bury finally capitalised from a short corner when Tom Campbell-Todd converted to make it 2-1. But, it was a matter of moments before Bedford won a short down the other end and put an impressive overhead deflection into the back of the net.

At 2-2, Bury kept pushing and continued to put plenty of pressure on the Bedford goal. A drag flick going into the left hand corner from captain Ollie Whiteman was kept out by a brilliant save and succeeding short corners also resulted in a goal line stop. After a break down of play in the middle of the park, Hugh Wilson received the ball before turning and finding himself 1-1 with the goalkeeper. Keeping his composure, he sqaured the ball to Stewart Findell who slotted Bury's third goal away.

After a few fiesty moments and words from both sets of players, Bury were on course to secure their first win in 4 games with only 60 seconds left on the clock. In the dying moments, Bedford won a short corner from a tackle outside the D and subsequently scored a drag flick from the last play of the game. The game finished 3-3 and Bury put an end to their 3 successive 3-2 victories but the draw was also hard to stomach.

Next week BSE Men's 1s travel to Harpenden.
