The Severn Bridge

Bury Mens 2 after a brilliant start to their season after two wins from two took their form to an away game in Felixstowe. We knew the assignment, player own game and focus on our formation. I'd love to say that we continued with that mantra throughout the match...

We turned up to the match with a bare 11 players, with Sully injuring himself after a vigorous one lap jog. I don't know if it was the hostile Felixstowe ground that caused this, or his pure athleticism. When you're an athlete playing at the highest level you're always on the edge.

We were hoping to have a sub but Grisby was on the way back from Wales and didn't make it after refusing to pay the toll to cross the severn.

Bury started really brightly with their new formation performing really well. Within 4 mins Bury found themselves one up after a short corner converted by Mitford, he celebrated wildly but truth be told no one was sure what he was saying due to a thick black country accent, something about 'alright mate'

Good work happened throughout the pitch again from O Holl and Grandpa Skelton making his 2s debut for the new season. We then found ourselves 2 up with a slick finish from our local TV celebrity Jim Armitage. We know blue looks good on him.

Felixstowe piled on the pressure and after some dubious decisions Felixstowe pulled one back just before had time.

After half time Bury started to tire, but held on magnificently but became really pegged back and struggled to get out of our own half. We still had a good chance to add goals with some fine counter attacking from Chapman and A English but we couldn't convert some half chances.

Bury discipline started to go with green cards for Ciappi, Stanton and a yellow for English.

Bury almost held on after some fantastic defending from Calver, Mitford and Sully but Felixstowe found themselves level without 3 mins left of the match. This is how the match finished 2-2. Bury continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Next week we are at home to Norwich. We go again.
