Bury started this match hoping to get their relegation fight back on track following last week’s agonising last gasp defeat to Bury 3. Alas, a defensive lapse allowed Norwich City to score against the run of play. Bury regrouped and with the reassuring presence of Martin Sully in defence and a midfield of Tom Jewers, Richard Prentice, and Tim Hollins, they began to exert control over the match. Bury deservedly drew level when Richard Prentice scored with an overhead volley that would have made Nadal envious!
The second half was a tense affair with chances on both sides. Bury took the lead when Ian Konrath finished off a flowing move. Bury then had to withstand some City pressure before Richard Prentice secured the points with his second of the match.
