The best in Bury battle it out!
Match report 23/09/23
This weekend marked the first clash between the 1st and 2nd ladies teams. Hotly anticipated by all involved, this match delivered all that you could expect and more.
An unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon brought together many familiar faces for the 4.30 pushback. The match started at a fast pace with both teams giving it their all. The 1st team established their position relatively quickly with a perfectly executed corner goal after 4 minutes scored by Liv Hyndman.
Heather Dunard swiftly followed up after 12 minutes with a true team field goal. Multiple phases of play and some fantastic passing from multiple members in the team lead to this great goal.
Shortly before the first half came to an end the 1st team slotted away their third goal with Georgie Coote adding to her goal scoring tally for the season.
The second half began and the pace certainly slowed as the 2nd team held their own with some impressive disruptive play. This made it very hard to find a settled rhythm as legs got tired through the half. This can be seen by the fact that it took the 1st team until the 56th minute to score their 4th goal. A powerful reverse stick strike on the run by Isobel Johnson.
The match came to an end with 4-0 being the final score and we all came together to celebrate a great Saturday of hockey followed by a Club social. Thanks to the umpires and the brilliant crowd who came down to watch and support this club derby.
