Bury entertained local rivals from Newmarket and after a positive week's preparation in the run up, the team made a tentative start. The deadlock between the teams was broken after 18 minutes when a short corner strike was converted by Liv Hyndman to rocket the home team into the lead. This gave the home team a confidence boost and was swiftly followed by a second goalmouth scramble in which Libby Stacey scored from close range. A rest after half time saw the homeside begin to dominate and create some slick passing moves, only thwarted by a cluttered defensive ‘D’ from Newmarket and some excellent GK saves. Bury however continued to put pressure on the away team having the majority of possession in their attacking half and through a number of intuitive connections, Kat Soame found the back of the net with a superb sweeping shot to make the final result 3-0.
Bury continue to top the table and progress on with their quest for league victory.
