A tough battle for Bury Ladies

The ladies 1st team started off strong with the midfield linking up runs on the left and right. Heading for goal Kat and Libby worked hard to get the ball to do the work with some great runs from Izzy Johnson and Sophie Edgehill.

A counter attack came from Cambridge in open play which resulted In their first goal.

A killer ball from Millie Collins gave Bury a great opportunity, with Sophie Edgehill and Arianne Dyball taking the ball down the left to find a sloppy tackle from the Cambridge side giving bury their first penalty corner. This was rocketed bottom left by Liv Hyndman, just wide of the post. Shortly after, Bury had another close miss with Georgia Wishlade’s deflection being slapped into the goal from Arianne Dyball, only for the team to have been told the whistle had already been blown. Bury finally managed to seal the deal with their first goal, an excellent link of play from midfield to attack with Gee Wishlade finishing off the job.

The young Cambridge started to match Bury’s pace with fast breaks to the top of the D. The Defence put in some excellent tackles clearing the ball for Bury to regain some ground. Unfortunately Bury couldn’t quite match the pace of the opposition’s attack which resulted in a goal from top D.

Cambridge had managed to secure their second goal leaving Bury fighting for points.

The Ladies continued to push on, finding opportunities in front of goal but had proved tricky to convert.

The whistle brought an unlucky battle to a close with Bury’s first loss of the season. Lots of learns and determination stored up for next time Ladies!
