The Bury side started strong and were patient and composed in the middle of the field. This led to an initial attacking opportunity where Bury won a penalty corner. With the initial strike saved, Heather Dunnard was quick on the rebound getting the first goal for the Bury side just 6 minutes in. Bury kept busy in attack earning their 2nd, a lovey team goal finished by Alice Prentice on the near post. Towards the end of the first half, Newmarket broke down the Bury defence and earned themselves a penalty corner which with a well executed strike, went straight into the back right corner of the goal, leaving the score as 1-2 to Bury at half time.
The second half started in a similar fashion with Bury still very busy in attack and Newmarket fighting hard to keep the goals out with some excellent saves by their keeper. Following a series of penalty corners, the Bury side finally get a well earned goal, a strike from the top by Livi Hyndman. There were further opportunities for the Bury side but the pressure of the Newmarket defence kept all further goals at bay ending the game 1-3 to Bury.
