Bury Ladies 1st’s celebrated a thrilling victory over their rivals on Saturday, thanks to an incredible team performance and superb coaching from Shazz. Bury ended up scoring three goals in the first half, and defended their lead with determination and skill in the second half.
The match started with both teams playing aggressively, creating chances and testing both goalkeepers. However, it was Bury St Edmunds who broke the deadlock at 3:30, when Livi Hyndman converted a short corner with a powerful sweep into the bottom right corner. Setting Bury up 1-0.
Bury ladies continued to dominate the possession and pressure the opposition's defence. At the 6 minute mark, they increased their lead with a brilliant effort from Dom Dyball, who slotted the ball past the keeper after a cross from Isobel Johnson. Bury now leading 2-0
Not letting up on their intensity, Bury kept creating opportunities to try to extend their advantage. At 35 minutes, they scored their third and final goal of the match, after a scramble on the goal line following a short corner, Ari Dyball tucked the ball past the keeper and into the goal, capping off a superb first half for the home team.
The second half was a different story, as the visitors came back with renewed energy and determination. They pushed hard for a comeback, and created several dangerous chances to score. However, the Bury’s defence was solid and resilient, and Lucy Gunson made some outstanding saves to deny any shots on goal. The home team also had some chances to score on the counter-attack, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The final whistle blew, and the home team celebrated their well-deserved victory with a MOM going to Shazz!
