Victory secures promotion for the Bury Ladies 1s

Bury were determined to enjoy this match and came out firing from the very beginning. With accuracy and quick passing, the match started at pace and within two minutes Dom Dyball scored the first goal for Bury. Heather Dunand continued the pressure scoring the second goal in the fourth minute and the third only a minute later!

By now, Bury were really into their stride barely allowing Peterborough any time on the ball. Bury won a penalty corner and after a smooth injection from Millie Collins, Liv Hyndman struck the ball with force to secure Bury’s fourth goal.

By the time Bury were 20 minutes into the first half Georgie Coote and Alice Prentice had also scored. Izzy Johnson scored the last goal of the first half in the last few minutes taking the team to a 7-0 lead at half time.

In the second half Peterborough fought hard with some good runs, but Bury were just too strong. Lilia Payne scored about 10 minutes into the second half and there were several shots on goal by Bury, plus numerous short corners but the ball just couldn’t quite find the back of the net and the Peterborough goal keeper was working hard to keep it out. The match finished with a penalty corner on the whistle that was injected by Tash Ingram and was struck hard but just went wide. The final score was 8-0, securing Bury the match but also their position at the top of the table for the East Women’s Division 1 North and promotion next season to the East Women’s Premier Division. With two more matches still remaining in the season this is a great achievement!

After the match the team celebrated by enjoying cakes and afternoon tea with some of the club sponsors who have supported the team throughout the season.
