Winning at Wisbech

This weekend, Bury St Edmunds Ladies 1s ventured to Wisbech to play their second to last game of the season. They arrived with a squad of 13 who were determined to keep their winning streak going and finish this season on a high.

The game started and the Bury team soon found their rhythm, passing the ball between the team with accuracy and pace whilst putting a lot of pressure on a very persistent Wisbech side. After a lot of hard work, the Bury team soon found themselves in the attaching ‘D’ to find a Wisbech foot and win their first short corner of the game. The ball is played to Liv Hyndman who uses her ‘super slap’ to find the back of the Wisbech goal after 19 minutes of play.

As the Bury side began the second half of the game, it soon became very clear that the Wisbech side were not prepared to go down without a fight! However, the Bury Ladies 1s team remained composed, pulled together as a team and we soon found ourselves in the attacking ‘D’ again.

With some excellent passing going between the team, the ball ends with Dominique Dyball who makes her way past several Wisbech players and around the goalkeeper to take Bury St Edmunds to 2-0 at 60 minutes.

With this second goal, the Bury side found fire in their bellies and came back towards the Wisbech team even stronger. Using their oppositions frustration to fuel their desire to win, the Bury team began making excellent little passes to beat their opposition and finding Heather Dunand who takes the Wisbech keeper on and takes Bury to 3-0 at 63 minutes.

The final whistle went after a 70 minute battle and the Bury team leave Wisbech, feeling ready for their finalè of the season.
