The weather was unkind, the same for both sides of course, but Bury dealt better with it and made very few errors which could be attributed to the soaking ground and a wet ball.
The visitors had a better share of possession, in the order of 60:40 making more incursions into the opponents D and might have scored four or five times in the first half. As so often happens ten minutes into the second half Chelmsford scored from open play following a move down their right hand side. They grew in confidence, defended in depth and released their forwards quickly when they had possession.
Bury stepped up a gear, moved the ball quickly, accurately; utilising three forwards scoring chances came and went. One hit did reach the Chelmsford back board but was ruled out after an umpires' discussion. It was just one of those days!
Hard lines on a tight 1-0 defeat.
