7s lose out in 11 goal feast

Half way through the second half, with the score at 4-4 and the seventh team pressing forward there was a realistic chance that we could finally register our first points of the season. Alas it was not to be, but this was another good game played in great spirit with a full squad of 16 players and typified many of the matches we’ve played this season.
The first half was evenly matched, with Matt Knight calmly slotting home to equalise IES’s first goal. It was soon 2-2 with Peter Lillistone scoring the first of his brace. IES scored two more just before half time so the score at the interval didn’t really reflect the balance of the game.
The start of the second half saw a really strong performance – Robert Fiske made it 4-3 and Peter Lillistone then scored the equaliser. When Jacob Sacree Hall’s cross whistled across the front of goal, IES were really rocking, but no one was able to get onto the end of it.
IES game back strongly and their 5th goal was the decisive moment in the game. They went on to score two more and ran out 7-4 winners, a result that maybe flattered them slightly.
