A win in the plate

The ladies o35s consisting of a real mix match team travelled to Colchester for the first round of the plate competition. Colchester started the better of the two teams but Bury handled the pressure and a break away resulted in a short corner. The straight strike from Millie Collins ended up in the back of the net. Half time Bury 1 nil up.

The second half started much the same as the first Colchester applying pressure that resulted in a goal for Colchester. As the game went on Bury started to gel better, pinging the ball around the pitch. This resulted in Mazz Chapman completely free in the D and she wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip (after her air shot) and pushed the ball into the empty net - 2-1 Bury. With 10 minutes to go the game started to become very end to end with both teams having opportunities to score. It took the final 3 minutes for Katie Bedford to use a burst of speed to find herself at the top of the D and to make the perfect connection to thunder the ball into the goal. Final score 3-1 a most enjoyable time had by all.
