3-1 win away in Lincolnshire

After a long drive to the Fenlands of Lincolnshire, the U14 boys faced a strong Spalding team. From the start this was a hard fought match with both sides having chances to score. It took several attempts before Ben Smart found the back of the net for the first time and some sterling goal keeping from the Spalding goalie kept more out. With 10 minutes of the first period left to play Ben found the net again, only for Spalding to reduce the advantage to 2-1. With no subs, due to Max Chapman unfortunately off ill, the boys started to feel their legs and kept leaving gaps in defence. Both Henry Derbyshire and Cameron Ford kept the defence in shape, Henry Green playing in a defensive position kept moving the ball up the side line finding Will Daniel, Ben Smart or Guy Salisbury to get the ball into the D. Ben Smart deservedly then scored the 3rd goal. Spalding definitely had the fresher legs and kept pressing and getting at least 7 short corners in the second half, but Nikolaj Winter had some amazing saves in goal and kept the final score at 3-1. Boys have finished top of Division 3 with 15 points and GD of +19! Area finals in May now the next goal.
