The Bury Development side took on Felixstowe A last night in a top of the table clash. Bury started slowly and found themselves 2-0 down. However, on the stroke of half time, Bury were awarded a short corner from which they grabbed a goal back through Jacob Walton with the last hit of the half.
Early into the third quarter, Felix Jones intercepted a hit-out and brilliantly ran the ball through the defence to slide home past the Felixstowe keeper - a great goal. Bury then controlled the game for a period and were unlucky not to take the lead due to some great stops by the goalkeeper, and the frame of the goal denying them too. Then, against the run of play, Felixstowe regained their lead, putting Bury on the back foot again.
Bury found themselves hanging on and a great tipped-over the bar save by Aengus Sullivan in goal kept the deficit to one. They composed themselves and with time running out, coach Bibby bolstered the attack with the introduction of Will Holton at the expense of a defender. This paid dividends within about three seconds as Jacob Walton scored his second and Bury's third to level the match.
The last couple of minutes was fairly frenetic but neither side could add to their tally as the game finished in a draw.
Player of the match was Jacob Walton for his two goals
DotD was Ali English for a run and attempted cross - a swing and a miss left him flat on the astro as the ball trickled off the end of the pitch beyond him. He later followed this up by straining a quad muscle getting from the car to McDonalds!
Well played all, and thanks to Patrick Sullivan for umpiring the game.
