We're delighted to announce the appointment of Sharon “Shazz” Holton as Bury St Edmunds Hockey Club’s first Director of Hockey.
Shazz has been part of BSEHC for nearly 40 years and has made an outstanding contribution as a player, coach and ambassador. She has coached our Ladies’ 1st XI, leading them into the East Premier Division on two occasions, and continues to develop her coaching knowledge through her work with England Hockey.
Her achievements as a player are equally impressive. Shazz has represented England at Masters level on over 50 occasions and has won both World Cup and European Championship gold medals. She recently captained the England O60s indoor squad at the World Championships and will shortly travel to Belgium as vice-captain of the England O60s outdoor team as they seek to retain their World Cup title.
This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the Club.
As Director of Hockey, Shazz will help create a clear hockey identity across BSEHC, support and develop our coaches, strengthen pathways from junior to senior hockey and build closer links with schools, community programmes and the BSEHC Talent Academy.
Above all, she will help us create an environment where ambition and enjoyment go hand in hand, and where every player and coach has the opportunity to develop and fulfil their potential.
Shazz’s energy, experience and passion for the Club are unmistakable. We are hugely excited to see the impact she will make and hope everyone will join us in congratulating her and wishing her every success.
