Bury mens 2's went behind early on in this local derby, and Newmarket added a second in the twentieth minute. Alex Gospel pulled one back on the half hour mark but Bury could not make any further progress and headed into the break 2-1 down.

Newmarket repeated their scoring feat of the first half, notching up a third early on. Despite several short corners for each side, no goals were added to either tally as Bury went down 3-1.
