A valiant effort
A valiant effort
The ladies 2s stepped out onto the pitch for their inter club game against the ladies 1s. A good start with composure with end to end play and the standard of play matched fairly. Until some moments of fast attacking speed from the opposition rewarded them with two quick goals. Short corners were awarded both ends with a near miss by James. A player collision in the defending D stopped play for injured keeper Woodroof - a temporary goalie substitute was made. Continuing play the 2s battled hard to keep the ball out of the D with only one more goal conceded. Hassling in the D by Chapman, Slarks-Hollis and Gregory rewarded the 2s with short corners. A rebound off the left post kept Stacey off the score sheet.

Restarting the second half the ladies 2s had fire in their bellies; Woodroof returned to the pitch as goalie.
Konrath, Brooke and Dahl working hard to keep control in the centre of the pitch intercepting play. Drives out wide via Turner, Stockdale and Slarks gave some good chances in D; but the 2s were unable to covert into a goal.
Continued work by Parkins, Collins and Morris in the defensive line almost kept the attack at bay for the second half. 1 goal conceded.
