On a dark, damp Saturday afternoon ladies 3’s we’re hunting for a roaring victory and three points to see them remain ahead of their visitors, Harleston Magpies 4’s , in the table and retain a strong sense of promotion. But sadly that was not how things transpired. Having returned to winning ways last week , a refreshed line up and an inspirational warm up featuring a selection of farm animal noises, spirits were high at push back. Some flowing passes and neat sequencing led to plenty of activity in both D’s in the first half, but the rub of the green lay with the visitors who scored first. Jo Etherton returned the favour at 27 mins for Bury with strike from the edge of the D. The remainder of the first half was hard fought by both teams and Harleston managed to optimise on their chance to put another away before half time. Despite Bury working hard for each other and plenty of balls reaching bury’s attacking 25 it was unfortunately not enough and towards the end of the second half with heavy legs and soggy shirts, formation slipped creating gaps which Harleston had the skill and energy to play through. Final score was 3-1 to Harleston and Bury ladies 3’s moved down to 3rd place in the table.
