On a bright & sunny winters day, Bury Ladies 3s headed to Tuddenham Road to face Ipswich 4s. After a defeat in their last game they were determined to get a win & started the game very strong. The young legs of Alva Holmefjord Phillips & Tilly Heath which led to their keeper being put to work during the whole of the first half, but it wasn’t until 22 minutes where we got our first break through from a well worked short corner, slipped left to Issy Snell and tapped in by Fiona Stokes.
1-0 at half time, Bury were determined to increase their lead, and after 4 minutes we got another, this time Jasmine Grayling used her silky stick work to find herself at the top of the D and her strike was touched over the line by Mazz Chapman.( hot topic after the game as to who would claim it ?)
Ipswich sparked into life with just 10 minutes to go and got a goal back, but Bury responded by putting pressure back on and the game ended with Bury very much on top with lots of possession and more chances. Great play from the whole team this week and a special word for skipper Heidi Ketterige for her work rate and fearless defending.
Bring on the Local derby V Sudbury next week who are also in the promotion chase.
