Not the scoreline we wanted however plenty of great hockey played. We started three across the back however the Colchester team turned out stronger than expected and put the pressure on. Working together our defence held well with Gabriel handling his first stint at centre defence superbly, staying calm under pressure. Liam, Gabriel, Peter and Barry all put huge amounts of work in getting back and marking well when needed. We welcome Dan Copley who joined the club only a week or two ago. Playing in centre midfield Dan was helping out the defence and then building attacks linking up with Lawrie in front and the wingers.

Midfielders Lawrie, Greg and Marcus along with forwards Seb, Tom, Robert and Harry worked hard at creating attacks and putting Colchester under pressure. "Far Post Fiske" so nearly claimed a goal from a superb cross into the D. Roberts gasp of frustration could be heard from the other end of the pitch....

Although Colchester went ahead our goals came in the second half. From a well worked penalty corner Seb's classic reverse outwitted their keeper to get us on the board. The big news is that Seb went into the match with his mother, father and sister having all scored goals earlier in the day. Well done Seb for handling the pressure and joining your family! Tom joined Seb after some great teamwork moved the ball around in the D until Tom managed to generate space and find the goal.

Man of the match debate at the club house was a challenge with several stand out performances however Liam was proposed multiple times. With huge amounts of work put into his defending: getting back, marking players tight, holding up the Colchester attackers and staying calm under pressure the nomination is well earnt.
