Despite being unfashionably late (an hour later than planned), due to a stretch of the A14 being closed off and being re-routed through Ipswich towards another cordoned off area, Felixstowe graciously delayed the start by around half an hour to allow the game to be played. After a particularly short warm up, the team fashioned themselves well, and were buoyed up as the match got underway. Confident in their passing and spacing Bury quickly opened the score line from Zynia Delgyn. In fact, the next 3 goals came from Zynia. Josie Gooderham worked superbly down the Wing, whilst Olivia Hyndman and Barber and Isabel Trollope were strong in defence whenever Felixstowe attacked. The next 2 goals came from Emma Boyle, with the final 2 goals of the half coming from Olivia Whyte and Francesca Konrath. At Half-Time Bury were 8-0 ahead. The second half saw Bury add to their tally with 2 goals from Katie Rogers and then another from Zynia. Katie Slark-Hollis worked fantastically in attack, providing a great set piece for Helena Page-Blair to score the final goal of the match. Kerry Woods remained stoic and poised in goal despite not being tested by Felixstowe. The final 12-0 score line was testament to the efforts of the 12 girls who all worked terrifically well as a team. An amazing opening start to the season.
