Bury hosted the final round of the Suffolk Youth League under 10s mixed tournament. Bury were able to field three teams in the 7 aside format league against opposition from across Suffolk. The 1st team played in the Championships whilst the 2nd and 3rd team played in Division 1.
Having played previous rounds at IES and Felixstowe the first team were top of the Championship having not lost a game and only conceding one goal, the 2nd and 3rd teams being 1st and 2ndrespectively in Division 1. The first team played some exciting hockey with strong passing and scything runs down the wings. They were able to win two of their matches and draw the other two whilst maintaining defensive clean sheets. There were strong performances from Whiting and Bucher in defence, Etherington in goal, Calver and Prentice down the wings with Green and Devereux working well in the middle of the field.
The second and third team were also successful with the seconds winning all their four games and the thirds winning three and only losing to the Bury Second team. There were strong performances from Goldrup, Price, Valentine and Croot.
It was great to see the players putting in to practice what they have been taught during the weekly training sessions, hopefully the dominance of the teams can continue into the second half of the season when the next competitions are scheduled to take place
