trying till the end

The match started very promising with the ball finding the back of the Spalding goal within 30 seconds of starting, thanks to an own goal by the Spalding defence. Sadly, only 1 minute later Spalding scored an equally lucky equaliser. The Spalding team got the better of the Bury team during the first half, passing the ball well and scoring a few goals in succession. Bury had some good chances but unfortunately only managed to convert only 1 into a goal. The second period Bury played better hockey and tried passing to ball down the wings more, resulting in more chances in the D. Ben Smart managed to score his second goal of the match and later on Guy Salisbury scored from a penalty flick after being run over by an over-enthusiastic Spalding defender.
Well done to some of our younger U14's who played their first match on a full pitch and also had never played 2 x 35 minutes before either. Hopefully, next time they face Spalding for the return match in March it'll be a better result for the U14's.
Despite the loss today, they remain top of the league.
No more Cup matches now until we face Bedford HC at home on the 3rd of February
