Bury were the only club entering two teams for this end of the season 7-aside tournament.
Unfortunately we only had one goal keeper today but teams were divided to get to evenly balanced sides as the ethos of SYL is enjoying hockey and not necessarily win at all costs.
Our GK-less team played extremely well, so much so that one of the opponent complained that not having a goalie was to our advantage! Several of the boys took turns to be a running goalie and I have never seen so many spectacular stick saves!
Bury Blue (no GK team) won all their matches and faced Felixstowe in the final winning it 5-2
Bury Orange faced IES and was initially 2-6 down, but came out the victors with a 8-6 win
Cameron Ford and Will Bettley got the scoring machine well and truly going today, with some spectacular goals from almost impossible angles! Lets hope they keep their eye in and produce similar goals on the 12th of May for the EH Tier 2 national finals
Many thanks to Caroline Daniel, who not only coached Bury Orange but also umpired all games on her own, as well as Chris Chapman for umpiring and Mikey Thompson for coaching Bury Blue.
Well done all - great stuff.
