Goal fest

The U16 boys started their England Hockey Championships campaign against Braintree HC.
After a bit of a slow start and allowing the opposition to foray into the Bury half a few times, the midfield and forwards started working together and pressuring the Braintree defence. After 14 minutes Guy Salisbury opened the scoring with a fabulous reverse stick goal, and followed this up 2 minutes later with his second goal. Will Bettley took care of goal number 3, and 2 minutes later U14 player Oliver Croot slotted in goal number 4. Just 2 minutes after re-start Guy lined up his 3rd goal. Braintree kept on trying to put pressure on the Bury defence, but Henry Derbyshire, Matt Hawker and Charlie Bushell U14, kept a tight line leaving goalies Nikolaj Winter (first half) and Aengus Sullivan (second half) with very little to do. Will Daniel kept displaying his one hand on the stick runs down the sideline and then working the ball into the D, he scored goal number 6. Alex Bettley took hold of the ball to score number 7 just 3 minutes later. At 54 minutes Lucas Nicolai scored a hard shot from the top of the D to make it 8-0, with 10 minutes to go Guy Salisbury made it 9-0, scoring his 4th goal of the match. With a few minutes left to play, the Braintree forwards finally managed to shake the Bury defence and scored their well deserved goal.
Final score 9-1
Unfortunately with second lockdown starting later this week, it looks like the next 2 matches will be postponed.
