The under 16boys had a narrow defeat in their friendly v Norwich Dragons. They started off really well putting lots of pressure on the Dragons defence with Evan Williams scoring a brilliant goal whilst diving in the D, more pressure resulted in a penalty flick, expertly taken by Cameron Ford.
Having changed ends for the second half, the low sun made it difficult for the defence and especially Aengus Sullivan in goal to see the ball, Dragons taking advantage and scored almost straight after restart, followed 5 minutes later with a second goal. With 5 minutes to go, our boys, most of whom played a game yesterday as well, started to struggle a little having only 1 sub, this allowed Dragons a bit more space to score for a third time. With seconds to go Bury secures a short corner and scored only for the goal to be disallowed.
A slightly disappointing 2-3 loss, but an excellent friendly in preparation for England Hockey Championship matches next Sunday.
