The U18’s continued their England Hockey cup run with a stunning 6-0 win away to Saffron Walden. Storm Dennis couldn't hold the girls back, who sent out a young and enthusiastic squad due to some absentees, with the girls having six U14’s in the squad.
The girls got off to a flyer through Holly Reynolds after bursting through midfield with a powerful run and going around the keeper. Holly didn’t stop there and fired two straight strikes from short corners to send the girls in at half time 3-0 up and a first half hat-trick for Holly.
Second half started as the first ended, a short corner that came out to Holly Reynolds, whose straight strike took a wicked deflection sending the ball looping over the keeper and into the net. Shortly after Nellie Ong starting her first game for the club went down the left wing before playing a brilliant ball across the circle for Georgia Wishlade to turn in. Bury saved their best for last with a wonderful team goal, after the defence transferred the ball, it was fed into the middle to Frankie Konrath who drove with real purpose ghosting past several players before spinning a lovely pass through to Sophie Beaumont to finish deftly past the rushing keeper.
The girls played superbly in horrible conditions and go marching onto the next round which could feature a long away day! Thank you to all the parents and players for their efforts getting to the game during Storm Dennis.
