3-2 win in St Neots

The game began at a frantic pace with both teams very evenly matched. The Bury defence however were resolute with some strong performances from Emma Boyle, Kate Bastow, Jessica Konrath and Carlotta Müller-Ehmsen. The ball was transferred well round the back to find other openings and some well crafted attacking runs from Nina Dahl, Sophie Beaumont and Louisa Gooderham meant that the St Neots keeper was kept very busy!! It was a lone run from Sophie Beaumont across the face of the goal and a well timed back hand shot at a tight angle that finally managed to break the deadlock! With renewed confidence Bury took the upper hand and fierce running through the middle from Holly Reynolds saw Bury penetrate the St Neots D on numerous occasions! One of these runs ended in a phenomenal backhand strike which hit the goal in the top left hand corner! 2-0. The opposition tried to counter attack on numerous occasions the determined running and low tackling from Frankie Konrath thwarted many attacks down the middle! St Neots resorted to a long hitting game at one point but again the balls were ably cut out by Jenny Dahl and Amy Mcullough. Bury continued to penetrate through the middle and down the flanks and earned a well deserved short corner! Holly Reynolds shot home with a rocket blast to make it 3-0.

The second half saw a renewed opposition! Their passing improved and they varied their points of attack allowing them to penetrate the Bury D on numerous occasions calling for Maddie Stuart in goal to make some outstanding reflex saves to keep Bury in the game. St Neots however did not give up and their persistence was awarded with two goals in close succession near the end of the game! St Neots now had the upper hand. The last 5 minutes was very closely contested as Bury worked hard to regain and maintain possession to see the game out! Jetti Nesemann worked tirelessly in the middle to regain possession and give Bury the edge!

The whistle blew to relieve the tension and allow the extremely jubilant Bury team a chance to celebrate a phenomenal team performance!

Thanks goes to the supporters, Gavin Reynolds for providing the fun bus and Tim Hollins for umpiring!
