A well fought end to Bury 6s season with a 0-1 loss to Colchester. The teams were well matched but Colchester dominated in the first half with Bury not quite finding their form. After 6 short corners and no score the cracks in Colchester’s offensive started to show, and Bury’s defensive line started to grow on confidence but one lucky goal set Colchester ahead and a flood of white (Colchester) shirts in the Bury D was the constant scene.

After a rousing half time talk with input from all the players, the Bury team returned to the field with renewed vigour and took the fight to Colchester. Taken unawares at this new team spirit Colchester quickly threw the majority of the team into defence. Lots of well placed shots and inspired runs down the line sever to challenge Colchester’s defence.

A few spirited attacks by Colchester were easily quelled by a solid defence, including GK Charlotte, who came to the rescue to keep the score down with some well placed deflections and interceptions . But the main story was in midfield and attack, where a line of Bury ladies kept a constant onslaught onto the Colchester goal. Sadly no attempts made their mark. Still they held their head high for what was an excellent end to the 6’s season.
